The Georgia Residential and Light Commercial Combo package includes everything you need to pass both your trades and NASCLA business and law exams. You will have the freedom to study for your contractors course when and where you would like to study.

 

 

This license is for a contractor to build residential, multi-family and multi-use light commercials buildings and structures which are less than four stories in height and less than 25,000 square feet in aggregate interior floor space, or pre-engineered steel buildings not exceeding 50,000 square feet of interior floor space.

Georgia Residential Light Commercial State Requirements & Application

  • Must have at least 2 light commercial jobs as experience
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Must be of good character and otherwise qualified as to competency, ability, integrity and financial responsibility. To prove financial responsibility you may submit a bank credit reference for showing 24 months history; a $25,000 surety bond; a $25,000 line of credit or letter of credit; or affirmation of a minimum net worth of $25,000. Must provide a bank credit reference for or credit report within 45 days.
  • Must provide copy of an insurance certificate showing proof of workers compensation insurance as required by Georgia law and liability insurance with a minimum amount of $500,000.
  • Residential Basic and Residential Light Commercial contractors do not have any minimum net worth requirements.

Fees: The application fee for a new prime contractor license is $300. The renewal fee is $200. The application fee for a subcontractor is $150.

Georgia Residential Light Commercial Reciprocity

Georgia does not offer reciprocity exemption for residential light commercial licenses.

Georgia Residential Light Commercial Permitted Work

With this license you may work on the same jobs as with the residential license (those relative to detached one-family and two-family residences and one-family townhouses not over three stories in height), but additionally, such contractor work or activity related to multi-family and multi-use light commercial buildings and structures.
