MISSISSIPPI COMMERCIAL BUILDER CONTRACTOR (NASCLA)

In Mississippi, a contractor may choose to take the NASCLA exam instead of the Building Construction exam. The NASCLA exam is accepted in 16 states currently.


MISSISSIPPI RESIDENTIAL BUILDER CONTRACTOR

Residential Basic This Mississippi General Contractor License covers the construction of one to four unit residential structures under four stories in height.


MISSISSIPPI COMMERICAL BUILDER CONTRACTOR

In Mississippi, a contractor's license is required for any job over $50,000. A certificate of responsibility (state commercial license) is required for any contract involving the construction, reconstruction, repair or maintenance of fire protection systems on public projects over $5,000 and on private projects over $10,000. A General Contractor with the unlimited designation is permitted to do any type of construction work and to bid on any type of contracts.


MISSISSIPPI BUSINESS AND LAW

The Mississippi Business Law exam is required for all contractor licenses in Mississippi. It is a separate test from the trades exam and is based on the book NASCLA Contractor's Guide to Business Law and Project Management.
